Get your eyes checked regularly Visit an ophthalmologist regularly right from the childhood. This helps in early detection of any refractory error, raised eye pressure, diabetic retinopathy etc.

Wear sunglasses - Always wear sunglasses while going outside during day time to protect your eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays of sunlight. Choose right pair of sunglasses that blocks 90-100 % of ultraviolet rays.

Eat healthy Add foods rich in nutrients like zinc, omega 3 fatty acid, Vitamin C & D. Eat green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits like orange, nuts, eggs and fish.

Give rest to your eyes- Avoid staring at computer or phone screen for too long as this may cause strain to your eyes, may cause dry eyes, irritation, blurred vision, headache, neck and shoulder pain. Blink more, rest your eyes every 20 minutes by looking 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Exercise regularly Brisk morning walk for 20 minutes helps in improving circulation to your eyes.

Quit smoking and liquor- Smoking generates free radicals and thus causes damage to blood vessels and muscles of eyes.
